Providing solutions and remedies to groups and communities adversely affected by projects financed by the multilateral development banks

Multilateral development banks, such as the World Bank Group, provide significant funding to large-scale infrastructure projects around the world and those projects can have profound and adverse consequences for indigenous people and other communities. BWL barristers are renowned practitioners of international organisations law including the law and procedures for holding the multilateral development banks accountable for their actions. The BWL Environmental Law Team works with established NGO’s, human rights practitioners, environmental advocates and others to represent and ensure fair outcomes for communities that are displaced, dispossessed or harmed by the lending activities of the African Development Bank (“AfDB”), the Asian Development Bank (“AsDB”), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (“AIIB”), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”), the Inter American Development Bank (IAB”) and the World Bank Group.
